Morocan Clay (Ghassoul)

Although Ghassoul Clay is an ancient clay, it is lesser-known than the more popular clays such as bentonite clay or activated charcoal.

But this Moroccan clay can absolutely rival these better-known clays.

Compared to chemical cosmetics with a wide reputation in the market, Moroccan Ghassoul is considered one of the most useful and valuable cosmetic products in terms of treatment, preventive and aesthetic; and what distinguishes it even more from other natural products is that, in addition to its uses for hair and skin, it can also be used for the whole body as well as many therapeutic uses.

What is the Moroccan ghassoul? What are its benefits, and what is the secret in its healing energy and comprehensive cosmetic strength?

Moroccan clay is harvested from clay mountainous areas on the outskirts of the city of Fez, the scientific capital of Morocco, and also from the beds of the Atlas Mountains, and the people of this city (Fez) have more experience in its use and manufacture. It is a gray clay that is usually sold to perfumers, either in its raw form (Any clay stones are raw materials with small and large pieces), or mixed with some aromatic or herbal additions that increase its aesthetic.

Benefits and uses:

Ghassoul clay is full of metallic elements that carry a negative charge. This magnetic energy draws out positively charged toxins and bonds to them so that when you wash the clay away, the toxins purportedly go with it. For this reason, Ghassoul clay is used as a detoxifier for skin and for hair.

  1. Detoxifies Skin

Moroccan Ghassoul Clay is known for its detoxifying effects on the body because of its high levels of ion exchange. It draws out not only dirt and sebum but also toxins and wastes clogging the body.

  1. Exfoliates Dead Skin Cells

The Moroccan Ghassoul from Sopure London has a mild abrasive texture which helps to scrub off dead skin cells when mixed in with water or oil to form a gritty paste. This will leave your skin feeling silky smooth and soft, and ultimately get rid of those unwanted flaky dead skin cells.

  1. Deeply Cleanses Pores & Purifies the Skin

The molecular structure of Ghassoul clay makes it very efficient at deeply cleansing out clogged pores. It helps draw out the impurities and pollution from deep within the pores of your skin. By creating a clay mask using Moroccan Rose Water, and cleansing your face or body with the mask by rubbing gently into your skin, you help to purifying and deeply cleanse your skin by exfoliating.

  1. Reduces Excess Oil from Skin

Moroccan Ghassoul soaks up surface oils and sebum within the pores. By creating a paste, using Ghassoul clay and water, you can help prevent pimples and blackheads from forming, as you rub the paste into your skin and let it sit for a moment to soak up all the oils and impurities.

  1. Softens Skin

Ghassoul clay helps to soften rough skin, such as in your knees and elbows. It also helps with cracked heels and bumpy skin. Use this paste by rubbing into tough stubborn areas, and leave in for about 15 minutes to work its magic before washing off.

  1. Tightens Large Pores

Ghassoul has natural astringent properties and as a result, Ghassoul clay tightens skin and shrinks large pores. You can create a skin tightening mask by mixing 1 tbsp of Ghassoul clay with 2 drops tea tree oil and enough water to form a paste. Apply onto skin and leave to dry before rinsing off with water.

  1. A Natural Shampoo

The saponin content in Ghassoul clay makes it a good shampoo alternative. Saponin is a natural cleansing agent found in certain plant material that forms a sort of lather when mixed with water. You can make your own clay shampoo by mixing Ghassoul clay with enough rose water to form a paste. Massage this paste into your wet hair and scalp, then rinse off as normal. Your hair will feel clean, soft and healthy.
